The Gibson County Emergency Management Agency operates under the supervision of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Its mission is to provide Gibson County residents, businesses, industries, and first responders with the education and support necessary to reduce the loss of life and human suffering and to minimize property damage from all types of disasters through mitigation, preparation, response, and recovery and a comprehensive, risk-based, all-hazard emergency management program.

Gibson County is one of twelve counties assigned to District 10 of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Alliance. The District 10 Alliance is capable of deploying specialized personnel and equipment for intra/interstate travel in the event of disasters or emergency actions.
